I spent my 20’s as a lowly-paid freelance rock journalist. It was a dream come true for a music geek whose favorite movie is “Almost Famous.” I interviewed several heroes. Saw shows, for FREE, several times a week. And learned how to hustle, how to craft a story and how $50 per story is a tough way to make a living.
Portfolio school taught me that wit, writing talent and working with delightfully weird people can carve out a pretty cool career path.
A decade a as journeyman copywriter has taken me from Atlanta to Hilton Head Island to Chattanooga to Atlanta (again) to Boulder to Denver. I’ve made a lot of work. Met a lot of great friends. And learned that I love this gig.
But I’m more than just a copywriter. I’m a fun uncle. Live music enthusiast. Hack golfer. Excellent golf-course-cusser. House-plant-murderer. Vinyl collector. Novice traveler. Road-tripper. Binge watcher. Dessert junky. A firm believer that Red Rocks is the best place on Earth. And a die-hard Clemson Tigers fan.
